Abstract(s)
O presente relatório é relativo à experiência adquirida através de um estágio curricular na revista Sábado. O estágio é parte integrante de um pré-requisito para a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Jornalismo pela Escola Superior de Comunicação Social do Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa.
Durante o período de estágio, que decorreu entre 23 de fevereiro e 22 de maio de 2017, foram recolhidos dados – através de entrevistas exploratórias, observação participante e análise das edições da revista e da secção ‘Vida’ do site da Sábado – que pudessem contribuir para uma resposta à questão de partida: “os direitos das crianças são respeitados da mesma maneira no online e no papel da Sábado?”. Uma série de questões sobre o assunto vão sendo colocadas e respondidas ao longo do documento, culminando na descrição e análise dos resultados relativamente ao papel e online e numa comparação entre ambos.
De facto, percebe-se que existem algumas diferenças entre os dois formatos, no entanto não são suficientemente significativas para exigir uma ponderação mais aprofundada sobre a razão dessa evidência. Devido a fatores como a diferença de timings para a publicação das notícias, há uma preocupação mais visível a olho nu com a publicação ou não de artigos que incluem crianças no online do que no papel. Apesar disso, o jornalista da Sábado prima, em ambos os formatos, pelo respeito relativamente ao código deontológico da profissão e ao estatuto editorial da revista. Unidos, estes dois valores fazem com que a revista seja, regra geral, respeitadora no que toca às crianças no jornalismo.
Numa primeira fase integrei a equipa das secções Portugal, Mundo e Segurança da revista, sob a orientação do editor das mesmas, Fernando Esteves. Na segunda fase estagiei na secção do online, sob a direção de Filipe Garcia, editor dessa secção. O relatório apresenta também um resumo das experiências e atividades desenvolvidas em ambas as secções, tentando fazer uma constante interligação entre as mesmas e o tema abordado. Os capítulos iniciam-se com uma breve contextualização teórica dos temas a ser tratados.
Depois das conclusões e considerações finais, o relatório termina com uma apreciação crítica do estágio na revista Sábado.
ABSTRACT: The following report is related to the experience acquired from a curricular internship at Sábado magazine. The internship is part of a requirement to the obtention of the Master’s degree on Journalism by the Superior School of Social Communication of the Lisbon Polytechnic Institute. During the time of the internship, which happened between the 23rd of February and the 22nd of May 2017, data were collected – through exploratory interviews, participant observation and analysis of the print editions of the magazine and the ‘Life’ section of the website of Sábado –, which could contribute to the answer of the key question: “are the children rights respected equally on the online and paper versions of Sábado?”. A series of questions about the subject will be held and answered along the document, with the peak of it being the description and analysis of the results relating to the paper and the online versions and a comparison between both. In fact, there are a few differences between both formats, although they are not significative enough to demand a more profound ponderation about the reason of that evidence. Because of different factors such as the difference of timings for the publication of the news pieces, there is a more visible preoccupation with the publication or not of articles that include children on the online than in the paper version. Despite that, in both formats Sábado’s journalist tries to remain loyal to the Society of Professional Journalists’ Code of Ethics and to the editorial status of the magazine. United, these values make the magazine respectful, generally, in what concerns to the children in journalism. On the first phase of the internship I joined the Portugal, World and Security sections’ team, under the orientation of the editor Fernando Esteves. On the second phase I worked on the online section, under the direction of Filipe Garcia, editor of that team. The report also presents a summary of the experiences and activities developed in both sections, trying to make a continuous interconnection between those and the covered theme. The chapters begin with a brief theoric contextualization of the covered themes. After the conclusions and final considerations, the report ends with the critical assessment of the internship at Sábado magazine.
