dc.description.abstractO FADO É ESTRANHA ALEGRIA, de Armando Nascimento Rosa, é um álbum duplo, com uma 1.ª edição digital, em 2019 (e uma edição física ampliada em 2026), constituída por quarenta temas musicais, cujas líricas se encontram para leitura integral no documento anexo. Um texto de introdução às quarenta líricas, bem como um enquadramento da criação poético-musical de que se trata, é apresentado por Nascimento Rosa nas páginas iniciais deste mesmo documento, sob o título «Estamos sempre a começar». Em termos de autorias, de entre os quarenta temas que integram o duplo álbum O FADO É ESTRANHA ALEGRIA, trinta e quatro músicas são originais de Nascimento Rosa, que é também o autor de trinta e duas líricas (sendo uma delas glosa explícita à pessoana ‘Autopsicografia’). Seis músicas pertencem a fados tradicionais, dois deles de autoria popular (Fado Menor e Fado Corrido) e os outros quatro, respectivamente, de Armando Machado (Fado Súplica), Fontes Rocha (Fado Isabel), Miguel Ramos (Fado Calixto) e Raúl Ferrão (Fado Carriche); todos eles com letras originais de Nascimento Rosa, que é ainda o autor das músicas para oito poemas de Fernando Pessoa, Natália Correia, Miguel Torga, Florbela Espanca, António Patrício, e Tiago Torres da Silva. O FADO É ESTRANHA ALEGRIA é um projecto apoiado pelo Gabinete de Projectos Especiais e Inovação do Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa (na 3.ª edição do ID&CA) e pelo Fundo Cultural da Sociedade Portuguesa de Autores, que permitiu a sua gravação em estúdio com um colectivo de músicos (Miguel Silva, Manuel Ferreira, João Vaz, Paulo Neves e Jaume Pradas), sob a direcção do maestro e pianista Mário Rui Teixeira, produtor musical do duplo álbum, que conta com os convidados: António Barbosa, no violino, bem como os cantores Duarte, André Baptista, Gonçalo Salgueiro, Vânia Duarte, Vanda Junot, e Maria Repas Gonçalves, em duetos vocais com Nascimento Rosa. A edição física em CD em 2026 (com apoio da Câmara Municipal de Évora e da Câmara Municipal de Ponta Delgada) conta com três temas adicionais. dc.description.abstractABSTRACT - FADO É ESTRANHA ALEGRIA, by Armando Nascimento Rosa, is a double album, first released digitally in 2019 (with an expanded physical edition in 2026), comprising forty tracks, the full lyrics of which can be found in the attached document. An introductory text to the forty lyrics, as well as a framework of the poetic-musical creation in question, under the title "We are always beginning", is presented by Nascimento Rosa in the opening pages of this same document, one which includes two lyrics written in English. In terms of authorship, of the forty songs in the double album FADO IS STRANGE JOYFULLNESS, thirty-four songs are originals by Nascimento Rosa, who is also the author of thirty-two lyrics (one of which is based on a poem by Fernando Pessoa). Six songs have melodies from traditional fados, two of them by popular authorship (Fado Minor and Fado Corrido) and the other four, respectively, by Armando Machado, Fontes Rocha, Miguel Ramos and Raúl Ferrão; all of them with original lyrics by Nascimento Rosa, who also put into music eight poems by Fernando Pessoa, Natália Correia, Miguel Torga, Florbela Espanca, António Patrício, and Tiago Torres da Silva. FADO IS STRANGE JOYFULLNESS is a project supported by Gabinete de Projectos Especiais e Inovação do Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa (Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon) and by the Cultural Fund of the Portuguese Society of Authors, which allowed its studio recording with several musicians (Miguel Silva, Manuel Ferreira, João Vaz, Paulo Neves and Jaume Pradas), under the direction of the conductor and pianist Mário Rui Teixeira, the music producer, with the following guests: António Barbosa, on the violin, as well as the singers Duarte, André Baptista, Gonçalo Salgueiro, Vânia Duarte, Vanda Junot, and Maria Repas Gonçalves, in vocal duets with Nascimento Rosa. The physical CD edition released in 2026 (with support from the Évora City Council and the Ponta Delgada City Council) includes three additional tracks.
