A presente investigação incide no universo do desenho infantil, explorando como a atividade é entendida e praticada enquanto expressão criativa, e qual o papel dos adultos/as nesse processo. O estudo foi realizado numa sala de Jardim de Infância, inserida numa Instituição Particular de Solidariedade Social (IPSS) no centro de Lisboa, com crianças entre os quatro e os seis anos de idade, manifestando as mesmas uma grande preferência por atividades de desenho, ocupando essas atividades a maior parte do tempo no planeamento diário. A metodologia do estudo contou com uma abordagem qualitativa, utilizando o método de estudo de caso, através da observação participante, análise documental e entrevistas, de modo a recolher as perceções e práticas de adultos e crianças. É possível constatar que tanto adultos como crianças reconhecem o desenho como uma forma de comunicação e expressão, associando-o à criatividade. No entanto, as conceções acerca da criatividade variam, sendo estas influenciadas pelas práticas e conceções dos adultos de referência. Ao analisar os desenhos e entrevistas das crianças, observamos uma diversidade de temas e abordagens, revelando a presença de criatividade nas suas produções. As conclusões destacam a importância do desenho infantil no desenvolvimento holístico das crianças e a necessidade de uma abordagem equilibrada por parte dos adultos para promover a expressão criativa. Esta pesquisa oferece importantes insights para práticas pedagógicas que valorizam a autonomia e a imaginação/criatividade das crianças, contribuindo para uma compreensão mais profunda do desenho infantil como uma atividade criativa.
ABSTRACT This research focuses on the universe of children's drawing, exploring how the activity is understood and practised as a creative expression, and what the role of adults is in this process. The study was carried out in a Kindergarten room in a Private Social Solidarity Institution (PSSI) in the centre of Lisbon, with children aged between four and six, who show a great preference for drawing activities, taking up most of the time in their daily planning. The study methodology took a qualitative approach, using the case study method, through participant observation, documentary analysis and interviews, to gather the perceptions and practices of adults and children. Both adults and children recognise drawing as a form of communication and expression, associating it with creativity. However, conceptions of creativity vary, and these are influenced by the practices and conceptions of the adults of reference. When analysing the children's drawings and interviews, we observed a diversity of themes and approaches, revealing the presence of creativity in their productions. The conclusions emphasise the importance of children's drawing in the holistic development of children and the need for a balanced approach on the part of adults to promote creative expression. This research offers important insights for pedagogical practices that value autonomy and imagination.
