Abstract(s)
movimento perante a Técnica.
Martha Graham.
ABSTRACT - A study was carried out with the students of the 6th year of the Ensino Artístico Especializado at the Ginasiano Escola de Dança, in the 2022/23 school year in which through imagery was to enrich and enhance, to stimulate awareness, to perfect, to promote and boost the accuracy of technical rigor in the execution of the Martha Graham Dance Technique and its application in performance, with the focus being on the spiral. The sensory of the imagery was interconnected with the Technique itself, as the emphasis was on the spiral movement and the stimulation for the Technique, this being developed and perfected by working on cognitive and interpretative skills. The methodology used in this study was Action Research. The data collection instruments were structured observation grids, logbook, and focus-group questions (AppendixG) – the latter with the aim of asking the group open-ended questions and obtaining qualitative answers from the students and clarifying any doubts. Didactic material and photographic/video records (use and collection of images as support of the observation/technical understanding by the students) were used as a resource to improve and perfect the chosen movement to be developed and practiced on the technical execution of the Martha Graham Dance Technique. It emerged that, after the action plan was completed, this study facilitated and fostered an understanding of the Martha Graham Dance Technique, specifically in the movement of the spiral, and the analysis of the data recorded showed that the students had improved their motor coordination, acquired technical skills, progressed in alignment, had greater artistic ability and greater freedom of movement in relation to the Technique. In short, the data we acquired allowed us to consider the relevance of imagery in the classroom, in the practice and knowledge of the Martha Graham Dance Technique.
