dc.description.abstractA preocupação com a liderança é tão antiga como a história escrita. A liderança é um dos temas relacionados com a estratégia mais estudados e que continuam a ter grande importância na atualidade. Hoje em dia o estudo passa por um maior grau de atenção ao ambiente que rodeia o líder e às suas relações. O líder é cada vez mais chamado a intervir em áreas organizacionais e as decisões tomadas pelo líder têm uma importante contribuição na obtenção de uma vantagem competitiva de que a empresa tanto necessita para sobreviver nos mercados pois, se tomadas de forma pouco refletida podem condená-la ao insucesso. O presente trabalho tem como objetivo a análise do tema liderança estratégica como diferencial competitivo nas empresas, mais propriamente a importância do líder na implementação de estratégias e a sua contribuição para a formulação de uma vantagem competitiva. Com este trabalho pretende-se realizar uma pesquisa de literatura e elaboração de um estudo do caso da Portugal Telecom e da liderança de Zeinal Bava eleito melhor CEO das telecomunicações na europa, em 2010, 2011 e 2013 e como o melhor CEO em Portugal em 2013 e 2012 numa iniciativa da revista Institucional Investor, tornando-se no único executivo português a ter tido duas distinções consecutivas como melhor CEO no sector das Telecomunicações, sendo que este ano o reconhecimento chega dos dois lados do mercado financeiro, investidores e analistas - e três prémios como melhor CFO (chief financial officer), pela Institutional Investor Magazine, considerada uma referência internacional na comunicação da relação com os investidores.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractThe concern with leadership is as old as written history. In both ancient and modern times, leadership has been one of the most studied topics as related to personal and organizational management strategies, and even more so in today’s Global environment. These days, most of the studies and research dealing with leadership have focused primarily on the relation between the leader and his environment, because at a higher degree the leader is constantly being affected by his or her environment with regard to the decision making processes. The leader is increasingly being asked to intervene in organizational areas, and the decisions made by the leader are a major contribution in obtaining a competitive advantage that the business so desperately needs in order to survive in the market place - for if the decision to act is not made in a timely manner, it may very well condemn the organization to failure. This study aims to analyze the thematic of strategic leadership as a competitive differential in enterprises, more specifically the importance of the leader in the implementation of strategies and its contribution to formulating competitive advantages. With this study we intend to conduct a literature review and drafting a case study of Portugal Telecom, and its leader Zeinal Bava, who was voted best CEO amongst telecommunications executives in Europe in 2010, 2011 and 2013. The study will also focus on her leadership and management styles, and lastly how these two factors led to Portugal Telecom’s success as well as her rise to becoming a superb executive.pt_PT
