A comunicação social continua, nos dias de hoje, a ser das principais fontes que os cidadãos utilizam para se manterem informados sobre a actualidade, A televisão, apesar de ser um meio tradicional, continua a destacar-se neste campo e a ter grande impacto na opinião da sociedade. Neste contexto o presente estudo pretende aferir de que forma é construído o processo noticioso correspondente a uma temática muito específica, o terrorismo. Sendo este relatório baseado num estágio na estação de Paço de Arcos, assume-se pertinente questionar: são os jornalistas da redação da SIC influenciados pela propaganda terrorista e/ou estereótipos ocidentais?
Desta forma o objectivo de pesquisa é identificar como é processada a cobertura mediática da SIC no que concerne a ataques terroristas, durante os seis meses do período de estágio, mas também saber se é possível estabelecer uma relação entre as notícias sobre os ataques, a influência das organizações terroristas e os estereótipos ocidentais em relação às pessoas de religião muçulmana. Para tal, e quanto à metodologia, além da análise documental e da observação participante, foram utilizadas análise de conteúdo e entrevistas abertas.
ABSTRACT: Nowadays, the Press continues to be one of the main sources that citizens use to keep themselves up to date. Television, despite being a traditional media, continues to stand out in this field, having a major impact on society's opinion. In this context, the present study intends to assess how the news process corresponding to a very specific theme, terrorism, is constructed. As this report is based on an internship conducted at the Portuguese TV station from Paço de Arcos, it is pertinent to ask: Are journalists from the newsroom of SIC influenced by terrorist propaganda and / or Western stereotypes? The aim of this research is not only to identify how SIC's media coverage of terrorist attacks is processed during the six months period of the above mentioned internship, but also to know whether a link can be made between the news about the attacks, the influence of terrorist organizations and Western stereotypes regarding people of Muslim religion. To this end, as for the methodology, in addition to documentary analysis and participant observation, content analysis and open interviews were used.
