Abstract(s)
Este projecto nasceu de uma observação à produção de obras para contratenor na música contemporânea em Portugal. Para analisar este fenómeno foi realizado um questionário a compositores nacionais na tentativa de entender os motivos para que esta voz não seja particularmente utilizada. Aliada a esta investigação foi também feito um estudo bibliográfico acerca do papel do contratenor e dos castrati na história; quais as razões para o seu desaparecimento no séc. XIX e para o seu ressurgimento na segunda metade do séc. XX. Simultaneamente, este projecto pretende tornar consciente a importância da voz de contratenor na criação de obras de música contemporânea, com a produção de uma obra original composta com este propósito, aumentando assim o repertório destinado a este tipo de voz.
ABSTRACT - This project was born due to an observation regarding the production of pieces for the countertenor voice in contemporary music in Portugal. To analyze this phenomenon a questionnaire was carried out to national composers to better understand the reasons why this voice is not particularly used. Allied to this investigation is a bibliographical study concerning the role of the countertenor and the castrati throughout history and what the reasons for its disappearance are in the 19th century and its resurgence in the second half of the 20th century. Simultaneously, this project intends to make aware the role of the countertenor in contemporary music with the production of an original score composed for this purpose; enlarging the repertoire destined to this type of voice.
