Abstract(s)
Neste artigo, apresentam-se e discutem-se os resultados da primeira fase de
uma investigação em curso, desenvolvida por investigadores da ESCS-IPL2, sobre
a cobertura jornalística dos três atos eleitorais de Cabo Verde (2016), realizada
por media generalistas portugueses. Concretamente, estão em causa as eleições
legislativas de Março e o tratamento jornalístico sobre elas. Concluímos que, se
dependessem dos media portugueses analisados – RTP1, SIC, TVI, TSF, Antena1,
Rádio Renascença, Público, Correio da Manhã, Expresso – para saberem o que
esteve em causa nas legislativas de 2016, os portugueses e os cabo-verdianos
residentes em Portugal teriam pouco mais do que a informação de que em março
houve eleições e que o Governo mudou. Isto é, a investigação dá conta do quase
total alheamento noticioso de um momento relevante da vida de um país com
uma forte relação histórica, linguística e cultural com Portugal.
In this article, we present and discuss the results of the first part of an ongoing investigation on media coverage by Portuguese media of the three elections of Cape Verde (2016), developed by researchers at ESCS-IPL. The journalistic coverage of the legislative elections, on March, is the core of this paper. We concluded that if the Portuguese and Cape Verdeans living in Portugal depended on the Portuguese news media analysed – RTP1, SIC, TVI, TSF, Antena1, Rádio Renanscença, Público, Correio da Manhã, Expresso – to know what was at issue in the legislative elections in 2016, they would have only the basic information: in March there were elections and that the government has changed. That is, the research gives account of the almost total ‘invisibility’ of an important moment in the life of a country with strong historical, cultural and linguistic relations with Portugal.
