O intuito do presente trabalho é expor e refletir sobre o conceito de responsabilidade social
tendo em conta a importância da sua aplicação dentro das empresas. Procura-se enfatizar o
seu impacto positivo nos colaboradores das mesmas, focando nas mulheres no período da
maternidade, considerando as mudanças radicais que desta naturalmente advêm. Com esta pesquisa, pretende-se analisar a evolução das políticas de Responsabilidade Social das Empresas (RSE) no geral e em Portugal, a importância da aplicação das mesmas nas empresas como meio de assegurar a igualdade de género e direito das mulheres que optem pela maternidade. Paralelamente é realizado um levantamento das políticas de combate à desigualdade de género e de parentalidade, a evolução histórica das mesmas em Portugal e a sua aplicação prática no mundo corporativo e na sociedade no geral. A metodologia utilizada para a pesquisa referida inclui revisão da bibliografia e a análise de dados qualitativos, através de um estudo de caso. Espera-se que o desenvolvimento e análise deste trabalho contribua para uma revisão das práticas referentes à responsabilidade social adotadas atualmente pelas empresas, de forma que estas possam proporcionar uma melhor qualidade de vida e satisfação pessoal às suas colaboradoras e se tornem em atores ativos no combate à desigualdade de género em Portugal.
The aim of this dissertation is to explain and contemplate about the concept of Social Responsibility, considering the importance of its application within Companies. The aim is to emphasize its positive impact on employees, focusing on women during maternity period, considering the radical changes that naturally arise from it. The main goal of this research is to analyze the progress of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies in general and in Portugal, as well as the importance of its application within companies as a mean of assuring gender equality and mothers’ rights. At the same time, there is a survey of policies to combat gender inequality, their historical evolution in Portugal and their practical application in the corporate world and society in general. The methodology used for this research includes a literature review and qualitative data analysis through a case study. It is hoped that the development and analysis of this work will contribute to an amendment of the social responsibility practices currently adopted by companies, so that they can provide a better quality of life and personal satisfaction for their female employees and become active players in the fight against gender inequality in Portugal.
