Abstract(s)
With the present Master Degree Project - HVAC Project applied to the Pharmaceutical Industry, emphasizing Control and Instrumentation, it is intended to study and apply the appropriate techniques of HVAC, refrigeration, control and monitoring to a demanding industry regarding the quality of indoor air. Given the strict quality control of products derived from the pharmaceutical industry, the requirement and rigor is reflected in the entire production process, from the raw material, to the ambient conditions under which the process is carried out and the final product is stored. The pharmaceutical industry has strict standards and directives, which also reflects the need for detailed control and monitoring of HVAC. In the particular case of the pharmaceutical industry, HVAC can be said to play a critical role in the production chain, leaving behind the user comfort that is usually the focus of HVAC systems. The level of air quality inside a clean room depends directly on the HVAC system. Monitoring and control of indoor conditions is vital to ensure that all requirements are met. These requirements are set by standards such as ISO 14644 or GMP - Good Manufacturing Practices. The present work intends to develop the HVAC and control system of a facility for pharmaceutical production, addressing the peripheral and central issues, designing the most appropriate technical solution and a control system that offers guarantees of monitoring and control. Given the size of the laboratory, central production of hot and cold water for air conditioning would not be advantageous, so it was opted for a direct expansion system, using a reversible heat pump for air treatment at AHU. The unit will be 100% fresh air to mitigate clean room contamination by recirculated air. As for BMS, the equipment will be integrated and monitored using field equipment, ensuring strict control of indoor air conditions and parameters such as pressure differential between spaces.
