ABSTRACT - This internship report concerns the work of internship entered in the Master of Physiotherapy at the Lisbon School of Health Technology. The report will be centered on the activities of the internship that took place between the months of January to March, that involved: the observation of physical therapy interventions in cases of cerebral palsy, spinal muscular atrophy type II, stroke, the study of a clinical case; and the holding of records of thematic development. This internship was guided by two principles, firstly developing and updating the practice of physiotherapy in the pathologies that were the purpose of study and intervention, and secondly intervention physiotherapist family-centered, an intervention that is congruent with the needs of patients and their families. Chronic illness in childhood has a very high prevalence and has implications for the development of the child and their family life. The care of children with chronic illness is a very difficult experience for the family. It is the social space where members interact, exchange information, support each other, and seek to mediate efforts to alleviate or solve problems. The family often has a psychological unpreparedness to tackle chronic disease in children, which leads to a disadvantage of adapting the child and its own family to this new situation. The changes that occur in the lives of both, when faced with the disease, are not simply organic or physical changes of the child, they surpass this angle, and promote emotional and social changes throughout the family, which require consonant care and adaptations. Physiotherapy intervention plays an important role in child’development functionality as well as in children and family the quality of life.
