Utilizaram-se os instrumentos: European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORCT QLQ-BR23); Disabilities of the arm shoulder and hand (DASH), e Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (MFIS).
ABSTRACT - Introduction: Currently, there is a longer survival in women undergoing breast cancer treatments that often leave sequelae. Moderate intensity exercise not only improves fatigue and self-esteem, but it can also help to decrease the risk of disease recurrence and increase survival, being a safe and effective way to improve functionality and quality of life. Dance is one of the most fun and creative low-impact physical activities through art that provides greater adherence to regular physical activity. The objective of this project was to learn about the effects of an intervention program in physiotherapy, with the adaptation of traditional and historical dances, on the quality of life, on the functionality of the upper limb, and on the fatigue of mastectomized women surviving breast cancer. Materials and Methods: The quasi-experimental method was used, without a control group, with a longitudinal design. The sample included a total of 11 women with an average age of 55 years and a standard deviation of 9, who underwent mastectomy for more than 6 months, who were not undergoing adjuvant treatments and without contraindications for physical exercise. The instruments used were: European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORCT QLQ-BR23); Disabilities of the arm shoulder and hand (DASH), and Modified Fatigue Impact Scale (MFIS). The program was carried out in 60 minutes once a week, for 7 weeks, at the ESTeSL gymnasium. In the comparison of the two evaluation moments for the same sample, the Shapiro-Wilk adjustment tests were used, and the T Student test or the Wilcoxon test for the two paired samples, for a significance level of 0.05 %. All calculations were made using the SPSS version 26 program. To study the correlation between the various scales and subscales, Spearman's correlation coefficient was used. Results: There were statistically significant changes between the initial evaluation moment and the second evaluation moment at the end of the program. Regarding quality of life, there was an improvement in body image (z = -2.315, p = 0.021) and in the future perspective (z = -2.121, p = 0.034); there were also improvements in the functionality of the upper limb (t (10) = 2.826, p = 0.018); and improvements in cognitive fatigue (z = -2.852; p = 0.004) and physical fatigue (z = -2.362; p = 0.018). Discussion and Conclusion: The physiotherapy intervention program with traditional and historical dances, oriented and chosen for this sample, had a positive impact on the quality of life, in relation to body image and future perspective, on the functionality of the upper limb and fatigue, demonstrating to be a promising program to develop in rehabilitation.
