Abstract(s)
In 2020, there was a new global pandemic called COVID 19. This pandemic changed the way the majority of the population lived, i.e. most people stayed at home in isolation because they didn't know how to deal with this virus. This change in the routine of the majority of the population has had an impact on hospital emergency services. As a result, there were differences in the number of people attending and there was a decrease in the number of people attending in 2020, which was the peak year of the COVID 19 pandemic. The Santarém District Hospital began operating in 1985. The hospital covers the municipalities of Almeirim, Alpiarça, Cartaxo, Chamusca, Golegã, Salvaterra de Magos, Santarém and Rio Maior. This study analysed 3 days in the month of September in 2019, 2020 and 2021. The hourly turnout of users was analysed, as well as turnout by gender, age distribution, time spent at the clinic, whether or not they had a family doctor and turnout by parish. It can be concluded that there was a decrease in attendance from 2019 to 2020 and in 2021 it remained slightly the same as in 2020.
