Abstract(s)
ABSTRACT - Introduction: Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disease with periods of remission and aggravation. The cause of psoriasis is still unknown. It is believed that the behavior of individuals influences the emergence of changes in their health and it is known that this disease has a genetic predisposition and that it is influenced by environmental factors. The treatment will be according to the needs of each patient. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the validity and the reliability of the PDI questionnaires (Psoriasis Disability Index) and DLQI (Dermatology Life Quality Index) and through them evaluate the quality of life of the patients who suffer from the disease. Methods: The data was collected at the CUF Discoveries Hospital, in Lisbon. The study included men and women with psoriasis, patients aged over 18 and able to understand and agree to the terms of the study and give informed consent in writing. Results: 8 patients with psoriasis - 5 females and 3 males - were included in the study. It was found that the impact of psoriasis on the patients’ daily lives is low in both questionnaires. The answers given by most patients were "never" and "nothing". Conclusion: As far as the first goal is concerned, the PDI and DLQI scales proved to be reliable and valid. In relation to the second goal, it was found that the impact of psoriasis on these patients is very low since the patients had lower scores in both scales.
