Abstract(s)
This dissertation is subordinated to the theme: āNormalization of load testsā which is an undeveloped theme in Portugal and for which there is no legislation. Load tests are performed in Portugal without any legislation to standardize its occurrence, and therefore each entity follows its methodology such entities as National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) or the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto(FEUP). The main objectives of this study are the study of foreign legislation that exists for load tests and its comparison with the methodologies followed in Portugal with the aim of identifying consensus and controversial aspects and set questions which could be translated into a Portuguese normative document. This work begins with a state of the art, through which basic concepts will be addressed on the load tests as their objectives, the types of tests or the mode of treatment results and will be develop a historical summary of the load tests. It is studied the existing legislation in other countries, selecting the most relevant aspects. The methodologies adopted by other entities in Portugal, like LNEC and FEUP arealso studied. Finally, in a more analytical component, it will be selected the most relevant aspects of international legislation and will be established the confrontation with the methodologies followed in Portugal in order to identify relevant aspects to include in a normative document to develop in Portugal in the future.
