Abstract(s)
In the last few years, the insurance industry has become increasingly important worldwide, as this area is integrated into financial activity, whose fluctuations have a strong impact on the finances and economies of the countries. One of the objectives of insurers is a generation of operating profits, having been hitherto based on financial resources. A performance evaluation is one of the forms of evaluation, according to the organizations, allowing to establish the less efficient points and to operate them. Performance indicators can be calculated through Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), a nonparametric technique that allows the handling of various inputs and outputs, so it is possible to establish a comparison between the performance of organizational units. In this comparison, it is considered that factors interfere in a positive and negative way in the efficiency of the organizational units, using multiple units of reference, being able therefore to use the benchmarking in the improvement of the units.
