Abstract(s)
Um oásis ao entardecer; 3 - Heading against the wall; 4 - Azul vermelho Azul manteiga; 5 -
ABSTRACT - The present report means to portray the visual arts and scenography projects followed during the curricular internship with Vasco Araújo, focusing on the artist’s methodologies and the disciplinary intersections by him employed. It centers around Araújo’s research, conception and production processes, both on his visual arts and scenography projects for the theatre company Cão Solteiro. To determine the artist’s procedures in these contexts, the report follows the projects in which Araújo was involved between September 2020 and March 2021, having a chapter dedicated to each one: 1 - Pathosformel; 2 - Um oásis ao entardecer; 3 - Heading against the wall; 4 - Azul vermelho Azul manteiga; 5 - studio work. Each project has a thematic and formal analysis which culminates in the description of the methodologies involved in its creation. Furthermore, in this report matters inherent to Vasco Araújo’s artistic and scenographic practices are reflected upon, namely as a Portuguese creator. In that sense, each of the analyzed projects arises questions about the national artistic reality, the relationship between artist and curator, the scenography’s preponderance in the play’s dramaturgy, the bridges between visual arts and scenography, interdisciplinarity and ways of exhibition. So that it accommodates Vasco Araújo’s works in the visual arts and scenography contemporary practices, the report is accompanied by interviews directed not only to the artist but also to some of the members of the theatre company for which he collaborates. Besides these texts, this report makes use of photographic records and work documents to reflect the practical dimension of the projects. Lastly, and considering the present report as the result of an internship, it seeks to make a stance in relation to the observed practices feeding into a methodological and artistic formation that advocates, on a personal level, the disciplinary and media intersection.
