Este trabalho analisa a adaptação de textos não dramáticos para a cena teatral: características e técnicas teatrais utilizadas, motivações, vantagens e dificuldades de se optar por este modelo de encenação, onde se mantém o texto narrativo, e como isto interfere na relação do espectador com o texto literário e o espetáculo; usando como objeto de estudo o trabalho de diretores brasileiros e espetáculos onde tal proposta fora utilizada, além de extenso material bibliográfico sobre o tema.
ABSTRACT - This work analyzes the adaptation of non-dramatic texts to theatre: the theatrical characteristics and techniques used, the motivations, the advantages and difficulties of such model of staging, where the narrative for is kept, and how all these features interfere with the relation between the spectator, the literary text and the theatre performance, using as object of study the work of Brazilian directors and theatre performances where this proposal was employed, besides an extensive related bibliography.
