dc.description.abstractThis paper presents an analysis of the intensity of Internet use, based on information gathered through the LLMCP - Living Lab on Media Content and Platforms online panel of Internet users. The analysis focuses on a sample of higher education students from the area of communication. The data collection took place over a period of 10 weeks, between January and March 2019, including about 40 users, which generated a total of more than 190 thousand web navigation actions, through laptop or desktop computer. The results point to a relevant and consistent decline in the intensity of online activity over the weekend (and also, at least partially, on Friday). The existence of classes does not seem to influence significantly the distribution of Internet usage intensity between week and weekend. Internet use is also predominantly centered in the afternoon and early evening. One hypothesis for further research is the possibility that these results suggest the existence of complex forms of interpenetration between personal use and school use of the Internet.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractEste artigo apresenta uma análise da intensidade de utilização da Internet, a partir de informação recolhida no âmbito do painel online de utilizadores da Internet do LLMCP – Living Lab on Media Content and Platforms. A análise incide sobre uma amostra de Alunos do ensino superior, da área da comunicação. A recolha de informação decorreu durante um período de 10 semanas, entre janeiro e março de 2019, incluindo cerca de 40 utilizadores, que geraram um total de mais de 190 mil ações de navegação online, através de computador portátil ou fixo. Os resultados apontam para uma descida relevante e consistente da intensidade da atividade online durante o fim de semana (e também, pelo menos em parte, à sexta-feira). A existência de aulas não parece afetar de forma relevante a distribuição da intensidade de utilização da Internet, entre semana e fim de semana. A par desta tendência verifica-se, também, uma utilização da Internet predominantemente centrada no período da tarde e do início da noite. Como hipótese a explorar, na continuação do trabalho, é apontada a possibilidade de os resultados sugerirem a existência de formas complexas de interpenetração entre a utilização pessoal e a utilização escolar da Internet.pt_PT
