O presente trabalho resulta da experiência de estágio no Maisfutebol e na TVI/CNN Portugal, entre janeiro e julho de 2025, e debruça-se sobre os riscos enfrentados pelos jornalistas desportivos em exercício de funções. Partindo da pergunta “Quais os riscos que os jornalistas desportivos enfrentam no exercício da profissão?”, o estudo identifica principais perpetuadores de situações de risco, os contextos em que ocorre, os impactos profissionais e pessoais e mecanismos de proteção existentes. No que respeita à metodologia, a investigação seguiu uma abordagem qualitativa com o recurso a técnicas de recolha de informação de natureza documental (revisão de literatura) e não documental (observação participante e sete entrevistas exploratórias a jornalistas). Os resultados mostram que os jornalistas desportivos exercem a sua atividade em constante exposição aos riscos, mas tendem a desvalorizá-los em detrimento de um ideal profissional. Os adeptos e os assessores são os principais perpetuadores de condicionamentos e pressões contra jornalistas, num contexto em que as medidas de proteção ainda são insuficientes e reativas.
This paper is the result of an internship at Maisfutebol and TVI/CNN Portugal between january and july 2025, and focuses on the risks faced by sports journalists in the course of their work. Starting from the question ‘What risks do sports journalists face in the exercise of their profession?’, the study identifies the main perpetrators of risk situations, the contexts in which they occur, the professional and personal impacts, and existing protection mechanisms. In terms of methodology, the research followed a qualitative approach using documentary (literature review) and non-documentary (participant observation and seven exploratory interviews with journalists) information gathering techniques. The results show that sports journalists carry out their work in constant exposure to risks but tend to downplay them in favour of a professional ideal. Fans and advisors are the main perpetrators of constraints and pressures against journalists, in a context where protective measures are still insufficient and reactive.
