A construção da identidade filarmónica: a via das bandas juvenis – estudo de caso nas Escolas de Música do Concelho de Sintra

Resumo I (Prática Pedagógica):
A primeira parte do presente Relatório de Estágio incide sobre o Estágio do
Ensino Especializado que se realizou na Academia de Amadores de Música durante o ano
letivo 2021/2022 no âmbito do Mestrado em Ensino de Música da Escola Superior de
Música de Lisboa, em regime de observação.
No referido estágio, estiveram envolvidos três alunos de graus distintos: dois
alunos do Curso Básico de Música (de 3º grau e 4º grau) e outro aluno do Curso Livre de
Música correspondente ao 6º grau. Foi elaborada previamente, pela mestranda, uma
planificação anual para cada um deles, juntamente com os respetivos planos de aula
individuais.
Pretendeu-se, nesta primeira parte, caracterizar o estabelecimento de ensino onde
decorreu o estágio, referindo aspetos relativos à sua história, estrutura e ambiente, bem
como, o modo de funcionamento das aulas. Procedeu-se igualmente à caracterização
singular de cada aluno envolvido e todo o seu desempenho observado durante o ano
letivo, salientando os principais problemas existentes e também uma descrição e análise
sobre toda a atividade desenvolvida durante a observação das aulas.
Este método, permitiu à mestranda uma reflexão sobre todos os aspetos positivos
e menos positivos encontrados o que, por sua vez, deu origem a ferramentas úteis e
essenciais para o desenvolvimento e aperfeiçoamento da sua prática pedagógica. Além
disso, permitiu ainda obter e desenvolver estratégias e novas abordagens para introduzir
mais tarde na sua forma de lecionar contribuindo, assim, para a evolução dos alunos.
Na sua totalidade, o estágio compreendeu a observação de 81 aulas (27 aulas para
cada um dos três alunos envolvidos), assim como o registo em vídeo de nove aulas (três
por cada aluno), as quais foram equitativamente distribuídas por cada período letivo. É
importante frisar que, durante a observação destas mesmas aulas, houve um especial
cuidado em aplicar parte do tema de investigação do presente Relatório de Estágio, no
que toca à verificação de resultados, face às respostas e evolução dos alunos ao serem
estimulados a tocar em conjunto com o professor durante a lecionação das referidas 81
aulas.
ABSTRACT I (Teaching): The first part of this Internship Report focuses on the Specialized Teaching Internship that took place at the Academia de Amadores de Música during the 2021/2022 academic year as part of the Master's Degree in Music Teaching at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa, on an observation basis. The internship involved three students from different grades: two students from the Basic Music Course (3rd and 4th grade) and another student from the Free Music Course corresponding to the 6th grade. The master's student had previously drawn up an annual plan for each of them, along with their individual lesson plans. In this first part, the aim was to characterize the school where the internship took place, mentioning aspects relating to its history, structure and environment, as well as how the classes worked. We also proceeded to characterize each student involved and all their performance observed during the school year, highlighting the main problems and also a description and analysis of all the activity developed during the observation of classes. This method allowed her to reflect on all the positive and less positive aspects she encountered, which in turn gave rise to useful and essential tools for developing and improving her teaching practice. It also allowed her to obtain and develop strategies and new approaches to introduce into her teaching later on, thus contributing to the students' development. In total, the internship involved observing 81 lessons (27 lessons for each of the three students involved), as well as video recording nine lessons (three for each student), which were equally distributed over each school term. It's important to note that during the observation of these lessons, special care was taken to apply part of the research theme of this Internship Report, in terms of verifying the results of the students' responses and evolution when they were encouraged to play together with the teacher during the teaching of the 81 lessons.
Resumo II (Investigação) A segunda parte do presente Relatório de Estágio consiste numa investigação que procura perceber se a criação de Bandas Juvenis no seio de uma Filarmónica pode ser favorável à formação de um aluno que apenas se encontre a frequentar aulas de instrumento e solfejo na Escola de Música dessa mesma instituição. Para além disso, procurou-se perceber, igualmente, se o contacto prévio com este tipo de formações juvenis, no decorrer da aprendizagem musical, consegue potenciar com maior eficácia o desenvolvimento e a motivação dos alunos no que diz respeito ao empenho e dedicação para o estudo do instrumento e, principalmente, no processo de preparação individual para o ingresso futuro numa formação como a Banda Filarmónica. Este trabalho de investigação focar-se-á nas Bandas Filarmónicas do Concelho de Sintra, com especial foco na Escola de Música da Banda Filarmónica da Sociedade Recreativa e Musical de Almoçageme, onde a mestranda se encontra atualmente a lecionar. A referida escola é uma instituição repleta de alunos a aprender os vários tipos de instrumentos de sopro, detentora de boas instalações e com grande agilidade para a criação das mais diversas valências. Com esta mais-valia, a mestranda teve a possibilidade de criar, naquele espaço, o seu projeto de investigação, o que lhe permitiu recolher as conclusões necessárias na busca por uma noção mais ampla sobre os contributos que a inserção das Bandas Juvenis, em complemento às aulas de instrumento e solfejo, poderão ter na aprendizagem e no desenvolvimento musical de um aluno. Além disso, teve como principal intuito investigar se esta experiência contribui para uma melhor preparação dos alunos ao integrarem o Corpo de Banda como elementos-músico. Relativamente às metodologias utilizadas, foram criadas duas Bandas Juvenis, as quais envolveram a colaboração dos alunos da Escola de Música daquela instituição e ambos estiveram sujeitos a uma “Prova de Leitura à Primeira Vista”, a qual foi criada como método de comparação entre as duas para esta investigação. Para uma maior recolha de informação, foram elaborados dois inquéritos distintos aos encarregados de educação e aos professores dos respetivos alunos participantes. Adicionalmente, foram realizadas entrevistas a todos aqueles que participaram nesta experiência na perspetiva de obter o feedback de cada um relativamente à atividade a que estiveram expostos durante uma temporada e onde participaram voluntariamente. Desta forma, as conclusões obtidas através das metodologias descritas anteriormente serviram para perceber se, de facto, os alunos, ao terem este contacto semanal com a música em conjunto, conseguem desenvolver as suas capacidades musicais de uma forma mais célere, assim como perceber se se sentem mais motivados, com maior interesse no estudo do seu instrumento musical e se adquirem as ferramentas musicais indispensáveis para enveredar no mundo das Bandas Filarmónicas. Por último, pretendeu-se descobrir se a criação destes grupos pode ter impacto na manutenção e no aumento de alunos para a aprendizagem de música e, bem assim, para a consequente perpetuação destas instituições.
ABSTRACT II (Research): The second part of this Internship Report is an investigation into whether the creation of Youth Bands within a Philharmonic can be favorable to the training of a student who is only attending instrument and solfeggio classes at the Music School of that same institution. In addition, we also wanted to find out whether previous contact with this type of youth group, during the course of musical learning, can more effectively boost the development and motivation of students in terms of commitment and dedication to studying the instrument and, above all, in the process of individual preparation for future entry into a formation such as the Philharmonic Band. This research will focus on the Philharmonic Bands of the Municipality of Sintra, with a special focus on the Music School of the Philharmonic Band of the Sociedade Recreativa e Musical de Almoçageme, where the master's student is currently teaching. This school is an institution full of students learning various types of wind instruments, with good facilities and great agility for creating a wide range of activities. With this added value, the master's student was able to create her research project in that space, which allowed her to gather the necessary conclusions in the search for a broader notion of the contributions that the inclusion of Youth Bands, as a complement to instrument and solfeggio lessons, could have on a student's musical learning and development. In addition, its main aim was to investigate whether this experience contributes to better preparation of students when they join the Band Corps as musicians. Regarding the methodologies used, two Youth Bands were created, which involved the collaboration of students from the Music School of that institution and both were subject to a "Reading at First Sight Test", which was created as a method of comparison between the two for this research. In order to gather more information, two separate surveys were carried out with the parents and teachers of the participating students. In addition, interviews were carried out with all those who took part in the experiment in order to obtain their feedback on the activity to which they had been exposed for a season and in which they participated voluntarily. In this way, the conclusions obtained through the methodologies described above were used to see if, in fact, by having this weekly contact with music together, the students are able to develop their musical skills more quickly, as well as to see if they feel more motivated, more interested in studying their musical instrument and if they acquire the musical tools, they need to enter the world of Philharmonic Bands. Finally, we wanted to find out whether the creation of these groups can have an impact on maintaining and increasing the number of students learning music and, consequently, on the perpetuation of these institutions.
