Abstract(s)
In the positioning of carbon monoxide detectors, it is mandatory to comply with the technical regulations for fire safety in buildings (RT-SCIE) published in ordinance 1532/2008 of 29 December, as well take in consideration the notes and datasheets published by National Association of Civil Protection (ANPC) and the Portuguese Security Association (APSEI). Portaria (Ordinance) 1532/2008 in its article 180 establishes a set of criteria which are almost consensual application in Type II and VIII uses, but that in type I uses some concerns are raised by the technical community in the definition of the measures to be adopt. Ordinance 1532/2008 in its Article 180 establishes a set of criteria that are almost consensual to apply in Type II and VII Uses, but which in Type I Uses raise some concerns on the part of the technical community in defining the measures to be taken. to adopt. Given these constraints in the positioning of detectors it was necessary to carry out an extensive task of bibliographic research, as well as to perform a comparative analysis of the parameters defined by the Portuguese, European and North American standards, especially in the use of Type-I, housing and Type-II parking lots. Additionally, it was necessary to listen to the opinion of firefighters and designers. After the process of collecting and analyzing all relevant information, it became feasible to list a number of amendment proposals aimed at making recommendations that also apply to Type I usages as well as establishing a set of bases. techniques that support the location of the carbon monoxide detector for use to safeguard the life and health of occupants of residential and non-residential installations.
