Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is a chronic progressive ocular disease that causes central vision loss, it is responsible for 8.7% of blindness worldwide, and it is the main cause of visual impairment in developed countries in individuals aged over 60 years, and its incidence is variable late AMD is higher in Europe (0.14%) and in America (0.35%). The prevalence of AMD is increasing due to the growth of the aging population Thus, health promotion and preventive medicine are essential tools to reduce the risk of visual impairment.
