Abstract(s)
In a society where a huge variety of factors influences corporations performance there is a constant seeking for higher competitiveness, efficiency and growing levels. Due to new globalization challenges and the constant need for technology development, companies are forced to develop new business models that allow them to have a rising performance. Maintenance plays an importante role concerning the desired industrial performance, regarding the constant pressure to delivery times, production flow, quality standards and technological innovation, leading organizations to bet in Industrial Maintenance. All equipment are subjected to a progressive deterioration, especially when they have one intense operation, being necessary to maintain its integrity. In this context, the maintenance leads on to centre stage, having always the major propose to increase equipments availability. To the maintenance manager, the perfect equipment has an excellent reliability, without unexpected stops, with an easy maintenance and preferably cheap. As it almost never happens simultaneously, the maintenance managers, engineers and technicians are forced to implement several tools and models to answer positively to the production requests. The objective of this work is to identify, explore and implement two distinctive models that once linked together allow having a full vision of the risks related to an equipment operation and to know what the best investment needed to achieve the risk mitigation or its control. The models were implemented on the study of a hydraulic press for aeronautical panels that is considered critical to the production flow. The several failure modes and effect were studied through the FMEA method, and the suggestion of preventive actions was made to reduce the risk. To simplify the maintenance manager work, it was implemented the second step of this work with the AHP method to the prioritization of preventive maintenance with investment needs. The aims of this project are to explore and implement one replicable process that allows facilitating the maintenance manager work when he has to make on decision and to develop investment plans to buy strategic stocks of critical equipment to the company.
