The Portuguese, and young people in particular, are increasingly distanced from culture. Moving away from cinemas, theaters, and shows, they have shifted their cultural participation and consumption to the digital sphere. Immersed in the age of digitalization, the Portuguese people have delegated the role of promoting culture to large technology companies. The proliferation of streaming platforms and social media has plunged culture into a state of symbolic decline, stripping it of its power to create meaning for human life. Developed from a professional experience as head of communications for InShadow – Lisbon Screendance Festival, this project work is based on the Four-Step Model to outline a communication strategy that aims to help the festival establish closer relationships with its younger audiences, encouraging their engagement and active participation in the initiatives promoted as part of its 17th edition (taking place between November 11 and December 19, 2025). Since it is understood that this distance is due, in part, to a lack of knowledge about what screendance is, this project also aims to raise awareness of this artistic practice among the cultural public of the city of Lisbon.
