Abstract(s)
Abstract - Over the recent years, due to technology advances, new ways of acquiring, storing and transmitting science have emerged. Higher Education institutions publishing scientific magazines aim to publicize them and to increase their visibility. In order to achieve these goals, many have relied on the use of Open Journal System (OJS), developed by the Public Knowledge Project. By using OJS, ESTeSL and ESELx made possible the creation of an independent platform for their scientific magazines, respectively Saúde & Tecnologia and Da Investigação às Práticas. The purpose behind the implementation of this system was to facilitate editor’s tasks, to give greater visibility to the magazines and to make them available in international platforms. Both Schools have decided to implement OJS in order to achieve those goals, and presently both magazines have independent space where edited issues are available. ESTeSL magazine also makes available its magazine on the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) and ESELx on the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) which in its turn ensures the process of submission to DOAJ. The great advantage on adopting this web platform is that it allows access to the players involved in the editorial process at anytime and anywhere.
