Abstract(s)
Entrepreneurship has been associated with economic development, presenting itself as a promoter of competitiveness, innovation and job creation (DGAE, 2021). According to the OECD (2015), teaching needs to move towards entrepreneurial teaching, guiding students to develop skills associated with proactivity and dynamism. The aim of this investigation was to characterize the entrepreneurial potential of students in the area of Business Sciences, in a public higher education institution. The empirical field was Lisbon Accounting and Business School, with a sample of 204 students. The case study methodology was adopted, of a mixed nature. The instrument used in the quantitative study was IAPE (Entrepreneurial Potential Assessment Inventory developed by Santos, Caetano & Curral, 2010). In parallel, the contributions of Schmid, Bohnenberger and Freitas (2010) were used, on the influence of didactic-pedagogical practices in the formation of the entrepreneurial profile. The results showed that there are no significant differences in entrepreneurial potential among students, regarding the variables gender and degree of education attended. In the comparative analysis between the intention to create a business and the real entrepreneurial potential, the results revealed that there is a positive correlation between the desire to create a business and the dimensions of entrepreneurial potential. Finally, the differences between the perception of teachers and students regarding the participation and use of the latter in initiatives aimed at entrepreneurship coincide with each other, showing that, despite the weak adherence on the part of students to the initiatives, they are- useful to them as well as lessons they draw from them. Finally, the implications of this investigation are discussed and ideas for future studies are suggested.
