Abstract(s)
At present, more and more the innovation of the business model assumes a preponderant role for the companies, being transversal to all the sector of activity. Thus, this type of innovation significantly interferes in the companie’s strategy, to the point of calling into question all competitiveness in the sector. The innovation of the business model is a dynamic business process and can integrate a change in the business model, or even create a new business model that leverages its competitive strength in the market by creating value for all stakeholders involved. According to the literature and some scientific studies it has been shown that the innovation of a business model creates value for a company because it presents a proposal effective and efficient value that meets the needs of its customers, however, to date it has not been possible to demonstrate whether innovation in a business model of an enterprise adds value to the overall industry in a particular market. The work carried out in this dissertation had as objective to make an empirical study, using the methodology of inquiry to analyze which of the hypotheses is valid: I) The innovation of a business model in a company increases the value in a sector of activity, or II) there is a transfer of value from competitors to the innovative company. The survey designed contemplates 27 questions and applied to companies from three sector of activity operating in the portuguese market. After the application of the survey and the results obtained, this work allowed to conclude that there is a strong hypothesis that innovation in a business model can increase the value of the entire activity sector, more specifically in a particular area of the business. In addition to this conclusion, other results were found and from which more specific conclusions were drawn.
