  • A toolbox for hyperspectral image analysis
Publication . Rosário, João; Silva, Vítor; Lourenço, André Ribeiro; Nascimento, Jose
This paper introduces a new toolbox for hyperspectral imagery, developed under the MATLAB environment. This toolbox provides easy access to different supervised and unsupervised classification methods. This new application is also versatile and fully dynamic since the user can embody their own methods, that can be reused and shared. This toolbox, while extends the potentiality of MATLAB environment, it also provides a user-friendly platform to assess the results of different methodologies. In this paper it is also presented, under the new application, a study of several different supervised and unsupervised classification methods on real hyperspectral data.
  • Embedded system for individual recognition based on ECG biometrics
Publication . Matos, André Cigarro; Lourenço, André Ribeiro; Nascimento, Jose
Biometric recognition is emerging has an alternative solution for applications where the privacy of the information is crucial. This paper presents an embedded biometric recognition system based on the Electrocardiographic signals (ECG) for individual identification and authentication. The proposed system implements a real-time state-of-the-art recognition algorithm, which extracts information from the frequency domain. The system is based on a ARM Cortex 4. Preliminary results show that embedded platforms are a promising path for the implementation of ECG-based applications in real-world scenario.
  • Biometric recognition system using low bandwidth ECG signals
Publication . Matos, André Cigarro; Lourenço, André Ribeiro; Nascimento, Jose
Biometric recognition has recently emerged as part of applications where the privacy of the information is crucial, as in the health care field. This paper presents a biometric recognition system based on the Electrocardiographic signal (ECG). The proposed system is based on a state-of-the-art recognition method which extracts information from the frequency domain. In this paper we propose a new method to increase the spectral resolution of low bandwidth ECG signals due to the limited bandwidth of the acquisition sensor. Preliminary results show that the proposed scheme reveals a higher identification rate and lower equal error rate when compared to previous approaches.

Publication . Matos, André Cigarro; Lourenço, André Ribeiro; Nascimento, Jose
Biometric recognition has recently emerged as part of applications where the privacy of the information is crucial, as in the health care field. This paper presents an embedded system for individual recognition based on Electrocardiographic (ECG) biometrics. The proposed system implements a real-time state-of-the-art recognition algorithm, which extracts information from the frequency domain, on an architecture based ARM Cortex 4. The system is designed to be free-standing, non-intrusive and easy to use on different environments. Preliminary results show the successful on-the-fly implementation in a embedded platform, enabling its usage on a myriad of operations.
