- Non-uniform microstrip antenna array for tolling using a single access lanePublication . Varum, Tiago; Matos, Joao; Pinho, PedroOver the last few years we have seen the progress of vehicular communications, as a way of development of the entire highway infrastructure, offering a set of new applications and functionalities to the users. The electronic collection for parking, tolls, gas stations, are some outcome of this technological development. This paper presents an antenna array according with the dedicated short range communications standards that rules the tolling applications, with the specific application in the access roads to highways. The radiation pattern with an innovative shape, combined with good wide operating band opens good perspectives for the application of this antenna in vehicular communications.
- Microstrip antenna array for multiband dedicated short range communications systemsPublication . Varum, Tiago; Matos, João; Pinho, Pedro; Abreu, Ricardo; Oliveira, Arnaldo; Lopes, JorgeDedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) is the key enabling technology for the present and future vehicular communication for various applications, such as safety improvement and traffic jam mitigation. This paper describes the development of a microstrip antenna array for the roadside equipment of a DSRC system, whose characteristics are according with the vehicular communications standards. The proposed antenna, with circular polarization, has a wide bandwidth, enough to cover the current European DSRC 5.8 GHz band and the future 5.9 GHz band for next generation DSRC communications.
