Este artigo propõe uma abordagem à obra da artista cubana María Magdalena Campos-Pons considerando a relação que esta estabelece com questões como a identidade, a memória, o deslocamento, exílio, diáspora ou a resiliência cultural. Estas problemáticas são encaradas numa transversalidade histórica e geracional associando autobiografia com a memória coletiva e propondo uma revisitação da narrativa histórica acerca de Cuba, onde o açúcar e a escravatura se apresentam como binómio indissociável.
Abstract: This article proposes an approach to the Cuban artist María Magdalena Campos-Pons work considering the relationship between issues such as identity, memory, displacement, exile, diaspora or cultural resilience. These themes are analyzed in a transverse way to history and several generations, associating autobiography with collective memory and proposing a revisitation of Cuba’s historical narrative where sugar and slavery appear as inseparable pair.
