Para ser competitivo num cenário global emergente, um produto ou um serviço deve corresponder às expectativas do consumidor em vários aspetos: desempenho, estética, qualidade e custo. Com uma concorrência cada vez mais forte, os fabricantes entenderam que o custo e a qualidade são fatores fundamentais para sobreviverem neste ambiente altamente competitivo.
No presente trabalho apresenta-se um caso de implementação, de forma inovadora, da metodologia da qualidade Quality Gate, afim de identificar, controlar e reduzir as não-conformidades detetadas na inspeção final do produto e reclamadas pelo cliente.
De forma aplicar-se este modelo de suporte à melhoria da qualidade, tanto na indústria aeronáutica como em qualquer indústria, quer seja um processo novo ou um processo existente, foi desenvolvido todo o método de implementação da mesma, definido em quatro fases, análise, definição e desenvolvimento, implementação e por fim o seguimento. Através do uso de ferramentas básicas da qualidade adequadas, entre as quais fluxogramas, diagramas de Pareto, Diagrama de Ishikawa, Folhas de Verificação, determinaram-se quais os defeitos mais frequentes na linha produtiva, as respetivas causas que dão origem ao modo de falha e foram ainda desenvolvidas check-lists (neste caso, chamados livros de inspeção).
Os resultados do caso de estudo evidenciam que o Quality Gate é uma ferramenta de simples implementação e promissora que atinge os objetivos definidos.
Devido a sua simplicidade de gestão, esta metodologia pode ser considerada um método apropriado para controlar processos ou projetos e pode ser amplamente aplicado em diferentes setores de indústrias.
To be competitive in an emerging global scenario, a product or service must meet consumer expectations in a number of respects: performance, esthetics, quality, and cost. With increasing competition, manufacturers have realized that cost and quality are key factors in surviving in this highly competitive environment. This paper presents a case of innovative implementation of the Quality Gate quality methodology in order to identify, control and reduce the non-conformities detected in the final inspection of the product and claimed by the customer. In order to apply this model of support to quality improvement, both in the aeronautical industry as in any industry, whether a new process or an existing process, the entire implementation method was developed, defined in four phases, analysis, definition and development, implementation and finally follow-up. Through the use of appropriate basic quality tools, including flowcharts, Pareto diagrams, Ishikawa diagrams, Check Sheets, the most frequent defects in the production line, the causes that gave rise to failure mode and checklists (in this case, called inspection books) were also developed. The results of the case study show that Quality Gate is a simple and promising implementation tool that achieves the defined objectives. Due to its simplicity of management, this methodology can be considered an appropriate method to control processes or projects and can be widely applied in different industries sectors.
