- New symmetries of the two-Higgs-doublet modelPublication . Ferreira, Pedro Miguel; Grzadkowski, B.; Ogreid, O. M.; Osland, P.The Two Higgs Doublet Model invariant under the gauge group \(SU(2)\times U(1)\) is known to have six additional global discrete or continuous symmetries of its scalar sector. We have discovered regions of parameter space of the model which are basis and renormalization group invariant to all orders of perturbation theory in the scalar and gauge sectors, but correspond to none of the hitherto considered symmetries. We therefore identify seven new symmetries of the model and discuss their phenomenology. Soft symmetry breaking is required for some of these models so that electroweak symmetry breaking can occur. We show that, at least at the two-loop level, it is possible to extend some of these symmetries to include fermions.
- Prospects for 2HDM charged Higgs searchesPublication . Krawczyk, M.; Moretti, S.; Osland, P.; Pruna, Giovanni Marco; Santos, RuiWe discuss the prospects for charged Higgs boson searches at the LHC, within the two-Higgs-doublet models (2HDM). The 2HDM is generally less constrained than the corresponding sector of the MSSM, but there are still severe theoretical and experimental constraints that already exclude significant regions of the naive parameter space. Explicit searches in the H+ -> tau(+)v and H+ -> t (b) over bar channels are further restricting parts of the 2HDM parameter space.

M.; Purmohammadi, M.; Racioppi, A.; Raidal, M.; Santos, Rui; Sharma, P.; Sokolowska, K.; Stal, O.; Yagyu, K.The goal of this report is to summarize the current situation and discuss possible search strategies for charged scalars, in non-supersymmetric extensions of the Standard Model at the LHC. Such scalars appear in Multi-HiggsDoublet models, in particular in the popular Two-HiggsDoublet model, allowing for charged and additional neutral Higgs bosons. These models have the attractive property that electroweak precision observables are automatically in agreement with the Standard Model at the tree level. For the most popular version of this framework, Model II, a discovery of a charged Higgs boson remains challenging, since the parameter space is becoming very constrained, and the QCD background is very high. We also briefly comment on models with dark matter which constrain the corresponding charged scalars that occur in these models. The stakes of a possible discovery of an extended scalar sector are very high, and these searches should be pursued in all conceivable channels, at the LHC and at future colliders.
- Symmetries of the 2HDM: an invariant formulation and consequencesPublication . Ferreira, Pedro Miguel; Grzadkowski, B.; Ogreid, Odd Magne; Osland, P.Symmetries of the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) potential that can be extended to the whole Lagrangian, i.e. the CP-symmetries CP1, CP2, CP3 and the Higgs-family symmetries Z(2), U(1) and SO(3) are discussed. Sufficient and necessary conditions in terms of constraints on masses and physical couplings for the potential to respect each of these symmetries are found. Each symmetry can be realized through several alternative cases, each case being a set of relations among physical parameters. We will show that some of those relations are invariant under the renormalization group, but others are not. The cases corresponding to each symmetry group are illustrated by analyzing the interplay between the potential and the vacuum expectation values.
