Abstract(s)
O Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias constitui-se, há mais de quarenta anos, como
instituição incontornável na área do jornalismo cultural e, mais concretamente, na
promoção da reflexão sobre literatura. O relatório de estágio na referida instituição
(decorrido entre 25 de janeiro e 2 de maio de 2022), que aqui consta, propôs-se a cruzar
as reflexões e aprendizagens de terreno e uma investigação de âmbito arquivístico,
conceptual e quantitativo, com o objetivo de responder à seguinte pergunta de partida:
como se caracteriza a crítica literária do jornal ao longo da história e na atualidade? Para
tal, foram definidos quatro anos de análise e recolhidos todos os textos de crítica literária
dos mesmos. Posteriormente, foram dispostos numa grelha com categorias relativas ao
texto, ao autor da crítica e à obra recenseada. Daí resultou uma análise quantitativa, quer
global, quer diacrónica, a partir da leitura da bibliografia sobre a crítica literária na
imprensa e à luz da metodologia da análise de conteúdo. Concluiu-se que: a) o periódico
reforçou a prática do colunismo neste género de texto ao longo dos anos; b) todos os
críticos estão ligados ao jornalismo, à academia ou ao meio editorial; c) o perfil mais
comum de autor recenseado escreve em língua portuguesa e é premiado à data da crítica;
d) a poesia tem um peso semelhante à ficção nas obras referenciadas.
ABSTRACT: The Jornal de Letras, Artes e Ideias has defined itself, for more than forty years, as an irreplaceable institution in cultural journalism, and more specifically, in the promotion of critical reflection about literature. This internship report, conducted from the 25th of January to the 2nd of May of 2022, in the aforementioned institution, aimed at cross-referencing the reflections and acquired field knowledge with an investigation of an archival, conceptual and quantitative nature, so as to try and find an answer to the following starting question: how can the literary criticism of the newspaper be described throughout its history and in the current moment? To this end, a four-year period of analysis was selected and every piece of literary criticism from that period was gathered together. Subsequentially, these were organized in a grid, according to the type of text, its author, and the reviewed work. From there, a quantitative analysis was applied, both globally and diachronically, based on the available bibliography about literary criticism in the press and content analysis methodology. We concluded that: a) the newspaper increased this type of columning throughout the years; b) all the critics are connected to journalism, the academia or publishing; c) the most frequent profile for reviewees is award-winning Portuguese writing authors; d) poetry is valued as much as fiction in the reviewed works.
