Abstract(s)
O objectivo deste trabalho é o de clarificar, com a ajuda de algumas ferramentas matemáticas básicas, o conceito de curva de aprendizagem/experiência (um instrumento analítico que permite a estimação da taxa de aprendizagem quer ao nível estritamente individual, quer ao nível das organizações), analisar os diferentes tipos de aprendizagem no seio das organizações industriais e o modo como eles podem interagir, e mostrar os efeitos que o “aprender fazendo” e o “aprender investigando” podem ter sobre as curvas de experiência. O trabalho debruça-se também sobre as limitações das curvas de experiência e destaca o impacte estratégico que essas curvas podem na aquisição de vantagens competitivas pelas empresas pioneiras.
The purpose of this essay is not only to clarify, with the help of some basic mathematical tools, the concept and meaning of learning/experience curves (an analytical instrument, which allows us to estimate the learning rate of the individual and organizational levels), but also to analyze the different types of learning inside industrial organizations and the ways they can interact, and to show the effects that learning by doing and learning by searching can have on the experience curves. The essay also approaches the limitations of the experience curves and puts some emphasis on the strategic impact those curves can have on the competitive advantages of first movers.
