Abstract(s)
Introdução: A segurança do doente é considerada uma temática de extrema importância para a qualidade dos sistemas de saúde, tendo o fenómeno da Segunda Vítima ganho destaques nos últimos anos. Em Portugal, o seu estudo é insuficiente tornando-se, por isso, fundamental o desenvolvimento deste tema para a realidade dos profissionais de saúde portugueses. Objetivo: Conhecer o efeito dos Incidentes de Segurança do Doentes nos profissionais de saúde e identificar a existência de estruturas de suporte. Metodologia: Foram elaborados três artigos científicos com base em duas abordagens metodológicas distintas. O primeiro artigo é uma revisão sistemática da Literatura, sendo o segundo e o terceiro artigos estudos descritivos, transversais e observacionais. Resultados: Verificou-se que os profissionais de saúde portugueses são afetados com o efeito dos incidentes de segurança do doente. A investigação comprovou que os efeitos dos incidentes de segurança do doente que afetam os profissionais de saúde portugueses são semelhantes aos descritos por profissionais de outros países. O estudo permitiu também conhecer as formas de apoio usadas pelos profissionais de saúde portugueses e o tipo de apoio de gostariam de receber por parte das instituições. Conclusão: Os incidentes de segurança do doente têm um efeito negativo nos profissionais de saúde portugueses, sendo por isso, de extrema importância desenvolver programas de apoio à Segunda Vítima. Estes programas devem apoiar os profissionais de saúde, garantindo assim o seu bem-estar, de forma a permitir que continuem a prestar cuidados ao doente de qualidade.
ABSTRACT - Introduction: Patient safety is considered a critical issue for the quality of health systems, with the phenomenon of the Second Victim gaining prominence in recent years. In Portugal, its study is insufficient, making it essential to develop this theme for the reality of Portuguese health professionals. Objective: To know the effect of Patient Safety Incidents on Health Professionals and identify the existence of support structures. Methodology: Three scientific articles were prepared based on two distinct methodological approaches. The first article is a systematic review of Literature, the second and third articles are descriptive, transversal, and observational studies. Results: The researchers found that Portuguese health professionals are affected by the effect of patient safety incidents. The investigation proved that the impact of patient incidents involving Portuguese healthcare professionals is like those described by professionals in other countries. The study also allowed us to know the forms of support used by Portuguese health professionals and the type of support they would like to receive from the institutions. Conclusion: Patient safety incidents harm Portuguese healthcare professionals, and it is, therefore, essential to develop programs to support the Second Victim. These programs should support health professionals, thus ensuring their well-being, to allow them to continue to provide quality patient care.
