Abstract(s)
This report, of a critical and reflective nature, emerges from the study carried out in Supervised Teaching Practice II, developed in a 2nd Cycle of Basic Education context. The study took place specifically within the scope of Exploratory Mathematics Teaching. It demonstrates a journey in which I played and assumed the role of teacher-trainee-researcher, reflects the learning and knowledge acquired during my academic training and reports on the research carried out. After characterizing the socio-educational context and getting to know all the participants in the action, it was important to carry out an investigation focused on small group tasks in the context of Exploratory Mathematics Teaching, with the aim of analyzing the relationship that students establish between themselves in these moments of discussion and sharing of ideas. This gave rise to the aim of the study: to understand the dynamics of group work in the context of Exploratory Mathematics Teaching. This is a qualitative investigation in which a variety of data collection techniques were applied: direct-selective-participant observation, interviews, and documentary collection. The activities implemented were based on the principles of constructivism, collaboration, and curriculum integration. In general, the students taking part in the study are very positive about the type of tasks and the learning achieved. This research has made it possible to understand that students associate collaboration and mutual help with group work, and that they can recognize that they don't always work in the same way, since they are influenced by their colleagues. The change in the composition of the working groups contributed to a change in the students' behavior, which consequently led to a change in group dynamics. Not everyone reacted in the same way, as some students showed improvement, greater concern and participation, while others behaved negatively, with more sloppiness and less participation and interaction with the group.
